Warsaw Medical University Student Ethics Code

We, the students of Warsaw Medical University

I. General Principles/Rules

     1. We are open to new knowledge and ready to acquire new skills and competences,

     2. Our conduct is guided by generally accepted ethical standards and fundamental academic values, such as truth, reliability and responsibility,

     3. We comply with the laws and customs of the Medical University of Warsaw,

     4. We protect the good name and property of the University, and we shape its positive image with our conduct

     5. We respect the dignity of all members of the WUM academic community and build relationships with them based on honesty, kindness and tolerance,

     6. We apply and promote the principles of a healthy lifestyle,

     7. We call out unfair and unethical behavior of the WUM academic community members;

II. Student conduct towards academic teachers and other University employees

     1. We respect the University authorities and employees and behave in a way that commands their respect,

     2. We fairly evaluate teachers and other University employees in student surveys,

     3. We fulfill our obligations conscientiously and honestly, in particular:

                a) we actively and systematically participate in classes and prepare for them,

                b) we deepen our scientific interests,

                c) we write tests, exams, diploma theses independently and comply with copyright and intellectual property laws and regulations

                d) we respect deadlines

                e) we comply with the regulations of classes and work rules of the units where classes take place

III. Conduct towards other students 

     1. We treat each other with respect

     2. We support each other in striving to acquire knowledge, skills and competences

     3. We provide each other with help, advice and inspiration

IV. Conduct towards patients and the wider society

     1. We know and respect patients’ rights and the principles of the professional ethics code/ Code of Medical Ethics

     2. We treat patients with kindness and politeness, respect their dignity, uphold their right to privacy and maintain sexual boundaries

     3. We strive to engage in and positively influence the lives of the communities we are part of.
