Israel, Gaza and the Middle East Crisis – University Response

Dear students,
We wish to express our profound shock and distress in response to the tragic loss of life that has affected numerous individuals in Israel, the Gaza Strip, and throughout the Middle East. We want to assure you that we stand with all those who are apprehensive for the safety of their loved ones in conflict-affected areas.
More than a year and a half ago, a tragic conflict erupted in our close neighborhood, in Ukraine. At that time, we endeavored to assist those in need, including students and their families. Today, we once again face a significant challenge.
We extend the opportunity to all students who may be experiencing excessive mental strain or have other concerns to get in touch with the English Division Dean’s Office (english@wum.edu.pl tel. 22 5720 502) or Dr Magdalena Łazarewicz who is a coordinating director University Counselling Services at MUW (magdalena.lazarewicz@wum.edu.pl).
As a university, we may not always be fully aware of challenges in your home country or those impacting you, your family, and friends. Nevertheless, we are committed to providing support during such times. If you are affected by incidents, whether they are close to home or far away, we encourage you to reach out to us. Your well-being is important to us, and we are here to help.

Yours,
Zbigniew Gaciong, Rector
Marek Kuch, Vice-Rector
Rafał Krenke, Dean of Faculty of Medicine
Jacek Sieńko, Deputy Dean for English Division, Faculty of Medicine
