Competency Test

- Candidate can sit the Medical University of Warsaw competency test ONLY ONCE per recruitment cycle.

Candidate must pay the application fee to sit the competency test. The payment must be credited to the candidate’s ORS application.

Medical Students - Medical University of Warsaw

The MUW competency test consists of 80 multiple-choice questions in reasoning and critical thinking in premedical sciences. The test verifies the candidate’s knowledge of high school biology and chemistry, analytical skills, and ability to solve problems logically.  
The test does not require exceptional teaching or preparation.

Competency Test Sessions

The competency test is divided into three sections. The maximum score is 100 points:
Biology – 30 questions (1 question = 1 point)
Chemistry – 30 questions (1 question = 1 point)
Decision Making (analytical skills and ability to solve problems logically) – 20 questions (1 question = 2 points)

You can navigate freely between sections and questions during the test.

The competency test sessions during the admission process for the 2025/26 academic year will be held online.
You cannot use a calculator, cell phone, tablet, MP3 player, or other electronic devices and cannot wear a watch.

Qualifying For The Test

Approximately 14 days before the exam, the Admission Board begins qualifying for the competency test.
The Admission Board reviews your application in the Online Recruitment System (ORS) and the required documents attached to the application.
You will receive an email if your documents need to be completed.
Please note: The Admission Board considers only paid applications.

Payment (application fee) should be posted on the candidate’s account not later than 5 days before the competency test session. 
You cannot write the competency test if the payment is not credited to your ORS account.

During competency test you may use Periodic Table.

 

 

Online Test Requirements in Brief:

1. Using a computer or laptop with a camera.
The exam cannot be taken via mobile phone or tablet.
2. Installation of the appropriate Internet browser: Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox.
3. Having a stable internet connection at home.
Access via a mobile network is not recommended. It does often not provide opportunities to maintain a proper data flow. The exam will last 100 minutes plus organisational issues. Therefore, a stable connection for at least 2 hours is required.

We adapt
the Online Competency Test
to your time zone.

The test is open from 7 am to 11 pm in your time zone.
You choose your own time to take the test and log in.
You must start writing the test at the times stated in the email.
Please check the range of hours as soon as you receive the email
from the exam platform.

 

Two weeks before the test:

Please log on to ORS and check your application:
a. A passport scan (Polish citizen's identity card) must be uploaded under the Documents tab.
At the start of the test, you must show the above document for verification. It should be the same as in the ORS.

b. Check the payment in the ORS. Only candidates who paid the application fee may sit the exam.

c. We will use your photo uploaded to the ORS for identification.
Each candidate is required to add a recent photo.

d. Check if you have signed up for the test.

One week before the test:

Email From The Exam Platform

You will receive an email with a link to the trial and competency tests three to five days before the session.

1. The trial test is open just after you receive an email and will be available until the date of passing the competency test. Please do it and familiarise yourself with test navigation. This test is not graded.

2. The competency test is available on a specific date for several hours. The hours are given according to your time zone. Check the time ranges in the email.
Based on the ORS application, we adapt the Online Competency Test to your time zone. Please fill in the Exam Declarations in the ORS correctly.

3. You choose your own exact time for writing the test. You must start writing the test within the hours specified in the email.

 

 

Day of the test:

a. Prepare your passport (Polish citizens must use an identity card). The document must be the same as in the ORS.
At the start of the test, you must show the above document for verification.
 
b. Note your ORS ID number. Check it on the main panel of the ORS.

c. Prepare the printout of the Periodic Table provided by the University. 
Remember to show it to the camera each time you want to use it.

d. Prepare a white sheet of paper and a pen or pencil to make notes. Remember to show it to the camera each time you want to use it. You will have to destroy your notes afterwards.

e. Read the competency test rules carefully. All the information therein is deemed given and binding.

f. Choose a quiet and peaceful place.
g. Start the online competency test.

Admission results will be available around 14 workdays after the competency test session.
Please note that it might take longer if the Admission Board is busy.

Check your online account and emails regularly for updates.
The Online Recruitment System is the University’s means of communication with the Candidate.
Data published in the ORS system is also emailed to you.
 

Appeal: Suppose your competency test session was disqualified due to an apparent infringement of the regulations resulting in a fail grade. In that case, you have the right to appeal the decision and add your explanations to the issue.

The appeal should be sent by email to recruitment@wum.edu.pl on the fifth working day from the date of receiving the decision of the Admission Board. at the latest. Each appeal will be reviewed together with the recording of your examination session and reassessed. You will receive a final judgment on the issue within two weeks.
