The Welcome Center is more than just a modern and beautifully designed space — it is, above all, a friendly place and a team of people ready to help international students and staff smoothly adapt to university life and integrate into the WUM community. Our goal is to make everyone feel at home at the University.
Who Is Invited to the Welcome Center?
We warmly welcome international students — both full-time and Erasmus+ participants — as well as PhD candidates from abroad, visiting professors and researchers, new members of the English Division and English Dentistry Division, and candidates interested in studying in English at WUM.
What Kind of Support Is Available at the Welcome Center?
We will assist you upon your arrival in Poland and help with necessary formalities, such as obtaining a Temporary Residence Card (TRC). We also provide guidance on university procedures, documentation, and everyday matters related to living in Warsaw.
In addition, we offer language and practical support to help international students and staff begin their academic journey at WUM smoothly and confidently — always focusing on individual needs.
Support will be provided by Katarzyna Uden, Welcome Center Coordinator.
Cultural Adaptation and Integration
The Welcome Center will also play two important roles — helping international guests understand Polish culture and local customs, which are essential for settling comfortably in a country where they will spend at least six years.
It will also host various cultural events and activities designed to integrate international students and staff with their Polish peers.
Official Opening of the Welcome Center
On October 8, Rector Prof. Rafał Krenke MD, PhD, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Prof. Paweł Włodarski, MD, DMD, PhD, Vice-Dean for Student Affairs of the English Division Assoc. Prof. Jacek Sieńko, MD, PhD, Krystyna Jarząb, Head of the English Division Dean’s Office, and Anetta Pszczołowska, Head of the Project Support Office, officially opened the Welcome Center by cutting the red ribbon!
“The Welcome Center is a place where we support, advise, and connect — from the very first day until graduation,” emphasized Vice-Dean Assoc. Prof. Jacek Sieńko during the opening ceremony.
“This center was created thanks to the dedication and involvement of a small but exceptional group of people. I thank them for creating something that will serve our students, staff, and guests in the best possible way. I also encourage everyone to share ideas and needs so that this place can continue to grow,” said Rector Prof. Rafał Krenke.
Among those thanked were: Assoc. Prof. Jacek Sieńko, Krystyna Jarząb, Anetta Pszczołowska, Wiktoria Gierlak from the Educational Projects Office, Agnieszka Wlazłowska-Pietrzak and Jowita Stachowiak from the Communication and Promotion Office, and Wioletta Smolarek from the Technical Facilities Maintenance Office, who designed the Welcome Center’s interior.
The opening was also attended by Vice-Rector for Internationalization, Promotion and Development Prof. Michał Grąt, as well as a large group of students from the English Division, including representatives of the English Division Student Government.
The students were recognized for their support in creating materials promoting the English-taught medical program.
The establishment of the Welcome Center was made possible through funding from the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA).
Where to Find the Welcome Center?
You can find the Welcome Center in the Rectorate Building at 61 Żwirki i Wigury Street (room no.1).
Upon entering the building, you’ll immediately notice a large blue wall featuring selected Warsaw landmarks and WUM buildings, along with the inscription “WELCOME TO WUM.”
Just behind that wall is our Center — and we warmly invite you to visit!
