Master’s Degree

Medicine is the right degree for those interested in biology, chemistry, physics, and scientific issues: if you would like to acquire the necessary knowledge, practical, and social skills needed to become a doctor. It’s a great choice for hard-working, responsible, ethical people striving to deepen their knowledge, and make sacrifices to protect human life.

The curriculum of our medical studies course focuses on teaching the theoretical basics and the principles of medical practice, including communication, as well as cooperation with patients and team members. 

Student of Medicine at WUM acquires knowledge, practical and social skills in:

  • morphology (clinical anatomy, histology with embryology)
  • scientific basis of medicine (biophysics, introduction to molecular biology, biochemistry with elements of chemistry, physiology with pathophysiology, cytophysiology, research methodology, statistics and medical informatics)
  • pre-clinical classes (genetics, microbiology, immunology, pharmacology and toxicology, pathomorphology, oncogenetics, parasitology)
  • behavioural and social sciences with professional elements (medical psychology, medical communication, medical ethics with elements of philosophy, history of medicine, Latin and other languages in medicine)
  • clinical subjects, surgical and non-surgical, which let you get acquainted with particular medical specialisations, i.e., paediatrics, neonatology, internal diseases, general practice, surgery, pediatric surgery, neurosurgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, oncology, transplantology, orthopaedics and traumatology, radiology, nuclear medicine, palliative medicine, ophthalmology, otolaryngology, dermatology with venereology, rehabilitation
  • legal and organisational aspects of medicine (hygiene and epidemiology, public health, forensic medicine with elements of law)

4th Year students have practical clinical classes.
Clerkship (vocational training) is also a vital element of our course. Students are obliged to take part in it each Summer after each year of study, resulting in a total of 20 weeks of clerkship.

Limit of places - 150 in 2026

Graduates of the Medicine Program at the Medical University of Warsaw have no problem finding employment because they possess a thorough knowledge and a high level of competence to pursue a medical career. They are well qualified to pass and achieve high scores in the Polish Medical Licensing Examination (LEK). This exam and its results determine the place of the future specialist doctors’ residency. Graduates of WUM can continue their studies through postgraduate courses, develop their scientific careers through PhD studies, and gain new qualifications, by taking part in professional and vocational training.
