Recruitment for the academic year 2023/2024

4-Step Admission Process in Brief

1. Apply online.

2. Pay the application fee.

3. Obtain qualification: write our Competency Test or present your score from BMAT/MCAT/GAMSAT/UKCAT.
If you hold a Bachelor of Science (BSc) or Master of Science (MSc) degree, use a university GPA.

4. Pay the confirmation fee and complete your admission file.


Medical University of Warsaw Admission Criteria

To be eligible to apply, you must:

1. Have a high school-leaving examination certificate OR secondary education diploma OR equivalent which entitles you to be considered for admission to a university program in the country it was obtained.

>>> Grades required from high-school graduates:
(on your high school-leaving examination certificate or secondary education diploma or equivalent):
A) Biology (Subject is mandatory) – a passing grade, level of subject must be equivalent to the extended level of the written baccalaureate examination.
B) Chemistry (Subject is mandatory) – a passing grade, level of subject must be equivalent to the extended level of the written baccalaureate examination.
C) Physics and astronomy OR Physics OR Mathematics – level of subject must be equivalent to the standard OR extended level of the written baccalaureate examination. (Candidate chooses one subject mentioned in the point “C").

High School Class off 2023?
If yes – start the application process as early as possible.
Don’t wait until you receive your final grades. Please upload your predicted grades in your online application and register for the competency test. You will have to submit the original certificate before the end of recruitment. The deadline will be set by the Admission Board.

Already graduate from high-schol but don’t have mandatory subjects? If yes – you can take an extra exam in such a subject with the comptenecy test or as a separate exam. We organise exams in biology, chemistry and physics.

>>> If you hold a BSc or MSc degree in Life Sciences, you will be assessed based on your university GPA (the competency test is not required). The BSc or MSc degree must be obtained no earlier than in 2018.

>>> If you hold BA or MA degree, you must provide the above mentioned grades from high-school diploma and take the competency test.

2. Register in the Online Recruitment System (ORS).

3. Obtain Qualification: write our Competency Test OR present the BMAT/MCAT/GAMSAT/UKCAT score OR BSc/MSc diploma with transcript.
You can write the Competency Test OR apply using the BMAT/MCAT/GAMSAT/UKCAT certificate OR BSc/MSc diploma with transcript only ONCE during the admission process.

4. Prove English language proficiency.

5. Complete your admission file.

The above requirements pertain to all Candidates applying to the Medical University of Warsaw 6-year Medical Program, including Polish or international candidates, IB/EB students, as well as, university students and Bachelor or Master degree holders.


Qualification Score

Qualification score is based on the following two criteria:

Criterion 1. Your final grades in Biology, Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics on
your high school-leaving examination certificate (high school diploma)

Criterion 2. Your score from either of the following tests: Medical University of Warsaw English Division competency test, BMAT, MCAT, GAMSAT, UCAT.
If you hold a BSc or MSc degree, you will be assessed based on your university GPA (the competency test is not required).   

Criterion 1 applies to all candidates. Ranking points are  added for required final grades on your high school-leaving examination certificate:
A) Biology (Subject is mandatory) – a passing grade, level of subject must be equivalent to the extended level of the written baccalaureate examination.
B) Chemistry (Subject is mandatory) – a passing grade, level of subject must be equivalent to the extended level of the written baccalaureate examination.
C) Physics and astronomy OR Physics OR Mathematics – level of subject must be equivalent to the standard OR extended level of the written baccalaureate examinationn.
(Candidate chooses one subject mentioned in the point “C").

The Admission Board will offer places only to the top candidates from the ranking list.



Complete application in the Online Recruitment System (ORS)

The application type in our Online Recruitment System depends on how you plan to complete the admission process. You can select only one type of application. Learn more

Enclose the scans of required documents to the ORS. 
The list of documents is in the step “Attach Documents".  We only require a few at the beginning. Upload them as soon as possible.
All documents must be in English or Polish, or have a certified translation to English attached.
Sets of documents required in the ORS at the initial stage of recruitment:
 – if you choose to write the Medical University of Warsaw (MUW) competency test, you have to upload the scan of the secondary school-leaving certificate and scan of the passport. Please also complete the “Grades and Results" step in the ORS.
High School Class off 2023 – please upload your predicted grades and the passport scan. Please leave the “Grades and results" step blank. You will complete it with your final grades.
– if you want to apply with your BMAT, MCAT, UKCAT, GAMSAT score, please upload the certificate's scan. If you do not enclose this document, your application will not be considered. Please also provide the scan of the passport.
– if you hold a BSc or MSc degree, you will be assessed based on your university GPA (the competency test is not required). Please upload scan of the diploma, transcript, as well as scan of the passport.

If you are qualified, you will have to complete other required documents (status: Qualified, place is confirmed).
You will be given a deadline for this by the Admission Board – usually 30 days.


  STEP 3: Obtain Qualification:

We will provide you with detailed information and a checklist with templates of documents after place confirmation.
Preparation of the school-leaving certificate (high-school diploma) depends on the country where you graduated or the education system.

We strongly request that each candidate upload scans of their documents into the ORS system before sending them by registered post or courier service to the Univeristy.

Documents that should be submitted after qualification:

Completed templates of the documents received from the University:
1. Personal questionnaire
2. Statement of Consent on Personal Data Processing
3. Statement on Civil rights
4. Statement of the date of obtaining the secondary school-leaving certificate. (Only candidates who have not yet received the original certificate from their school when mailing by post the documents to the University).

5. Secondary School-Leaving Certificate (High School Diploma)
Secondary School-Leaving Certificate (High School Diploma) that qualifies to undertake higher education studies in the country of issue (entitles its holder to be admitted to medical education programmes).
a. The certificate must be original or the copy certified by a Notary Public
b. The certificate must be certified with an affixed apostille or legalized
– Candidates holding IB/EB Diploma do not need to have an apostille on the official high school-leaving examination certificate.
6. Transcripts of all attended education programs with an affixed apostille or legalized (a transcript is only needed if the grades are not written on the certificate).
7. Certification of the candidate's right to apply for admission to higher education (only selected candidates – we will provide you with detailed information)

8. Document confirming the fluency in English.
– citizenship of a country in which English is the official language
– IB Diploma (International Baccalaureate)
– EB Diploma (Issued in Brussels)
– completion of secondary or post-secondary education with English as language of instruction
– Language certificates recognized by the Medical University of Warsaw:
IELTS Academic – Overall Band Score at least 6.5 points
TOEFL iBT – at least 87 points
TOEFL PBT – at least 547 points (at least 210 points in the computer system)
TOEIC – at least 700 points
– Polish baccalaureate examination (egzamin maturalny) with the result of the written examination in English (advanced level) of at least 83%
– Candidates who completed their secondary education in Scandinavian countries:
Norway: grade in English in secondary school at least: 4
Sweden: grade in English in secondary school at least: VG or C
Denmark: grade in English in secondary school at least: 7

9. Health certificate form completed by a physician stating that the candidate can commence medical studies.
It requires several tests and preparation of information.

10. Vaccination Certificate (Immunisation proof)

11. One (1) recent passport photo (picture was taken with the photographer on photographic paper)

Documents that should be submitted upon the start of studies:

12. Proof of health insurance valid in Poland (EHIC for EU citizens)
13. Copy of a student visa or other document confirming that the stay in Poland is legal
14. Confirmation of education issued by the Masovian Education Superintendent in Poland – to be submitted by the end of the first year of studies (unless recognition is automatic, based on international agreements)
