Admission for the academic year 2021/2022 is open.

The University reserves the right to extend the application deadline and to organise additional Competency Test sessions if the places are not filled.

Medical University of Warsaw Admission Criteria

To be eligible to apply, you must:

1. Have a high school-leaving examination certificate or secondary education diploma or equivalent which entitles you to be considered for admission to a university program in the country it was obtained

2. Take our Competency Test or the BMAT, MCAT, GAMSAT or UKCAT

3. Have passing grades in Biology, Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics on your high school-leaving examination certificate or secondary education diploma or equivalent
If you do not have the required grades, you can take an exam in such a subject. We organise exams in biology, chemistry and physics.
Remember – regardless of the subject exam, you will also have to take the competency test or BMAT/MCAT/GAMSAT/UKCAT.
Required grades:
A) Biology – a grade equivalent to the extended level of the written baccalaureate examination (Subject is mandatory).
B) Chemistry – a mark equivalent to the extended level of the written matriculation examination (Subject is mandatory).
C) Physics and astronomy or Physics or Mathematics – a mark equivalent to the standard or extended level of the written matura examination. (Candidate chooses one subject mentioned in the third point).

5. Register in the Online Recruitment System (ORS)

You can write the Competency Test or apply using the BMAT, MCAT, GAMSAT or UKCAT certificate only ONCE during the admission process.

Please note, you may start applying for university and write the Competency Test before you receive your secondary school-leaving certificate.
You have to submit the original certificate before the end of recruitment. The deadline will be set by the Admission Board.
Please remember to correctly fill in the date on the application form when you receive your secondary school-leaving certificate.

The above requirements pertain to all Candidates applying to the Medical University of Warsaw 6-year Medical Program, including Polish or international candidates and candidates holding Bachelor or Master diplomas.


Types of applications in the Online Recruitment System

When you register in our Online Recruitment System, you choose whether you want to take our Competency Test or certificate (BMAT, MCAT, UKCAT, GAMSAT).
You also choose the type of school-leaving certificate you have or will receive.

1. If you want to take the Competency Test, select from the following applications:
– IB Diploma (International Baccalaureate)
– EB Diploma (Issued in Brussels)
– New polish maturity certificate (since 2005) – only for candidates holding polish matura (PL)
– Secondary school-leaving certificate (High school diploma) – choose this application if your school-leaving certificate is other than listed above

2. If you want to apply with your BMAT, MCAT, UKCAT, GAMSAT certificate, please select the application:
– BMAT/MCAT/UKCAT/GAMSAT + Secondary school-leaving certificate/IB/EB/Polish maturity certificate

Please note, the above type of application also applies to IB Diploma (International Baccalaureate), EB Diploma (Issued in Brussels), New polish maturity certificate (since 2005) if you are using BMAT, MCAT, UKCAT, GAMSAT certificate to apply.


Qualification Score

Qualification score is based on final grades in Biology, Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics on your high school-leaving examination certificate AND your score in the Competency Test or the BMAT, MCAT, GAMSAT or UKCAT.


Required documents confirming the fluency in English

The candidates who have been qualified to the admission to the studies (6-year Medical Program in English) must present a certificate of an examination verifying their fluency in English.

The above requirement does NOT apply to the candidates whose mother tongue is English (e.g. Australia, United Kingdom, USA, Canada) or the candidates who have taken the baccalaureate examination in English.
For these candidates, documents confirming command of English are:
– citizenship of a country in which English is the official language
– IB Diploma (International Baccalaureate)
– EB Diploma (Issued in Brussels)
– the higher education diploma, if the language of instruction was English

The Admission Board reserves the right to request additional information and/or require language proficiency exam scores.

Language certificates

Below is a list of Language certificates recognized by the Medical University of Warsaw:
IELTS Academic – at least 6.5 points
TOEFL iBT – at least 87 points and at least 3.5 points of the TWE
TOEFL PBT – at least 510 points (at least 180 points in the computer system)
TOEIC – at least 700 points

In the case of the candidates who have obtained the graduation certificate of secondary education upon taking the baccalaureate examination (egzamin maturalny) the result of the written examination in English (advanced level) of at least 83% will be taken into account. If a candidate presenting a graduation certificate of secondary education obtained after taking the baccalaureate examination does not have at least the above grade in English he/she must present the language certificate confirming his/her fluency in English according to the above rules.

In respect of the candidates from Scandinavian countries the grades included in the graduation certificate of secondary education will be taken into account. The minimum grades in the case of the candidates representing Scandinavian countries:
1. Candidates from Norway – 4
2. Candidates from Sweden – C (VG)
3. Candidates from Denmark – 7
If a candidate from a Scandinavian country does not have at least the grade specified above he/she must present language certificate confirming his/her fluency in English according to the above rules.
