Qualification
To be eligible to apply for the 6-year Medicine Program, you must have one of the following:
1. A high school-leaving examination certificate,
2. Secondary education diploma with transcript,
3. An equivalent entitles you to be considered for admission to a university program in the country it was obtained.
The documents listed in points 1-3 must confirm the right to commence higher education in the country of issue.
It is a fundamental requirement that the Admissions Board verifies for each applicant, regardless of the applicant's subsequent recruitment path.
The essential elements are the mandatory grades in the above document. These grades constitute criterion 1:
A) Biology – a passing grade, the subject level must be equivalent to the extended level of the written baccalaureate examination.
B) Chemistry – a passing grade, the subject level must be equivalent to the extended level of the written baccalaureate examination.
C) And choose one subject from:
– Physics and Astronomy
– Physics
– Mathematics
You should present a passing grade.
Any subject level mentioned in the point "C" must be equivalent to the standard or extended level of the written baccalaureate examination.
The above requirements apply to all Candidates applying to the Medical University of Warsaw 6-year Medical Program, including Polish and international candidates, IB/EB students, university students, and Bachelor's or Master's degree holders.
If you don't have mandatory subjects on your high-school diploma, you can take an additional exam[s] in such a subject as a separate exam.
You can take exams in only the two missing subjects. You pass the exam if you score at least 30% of the possible points.
We organise exams in Biology, Chemistry and Physics. We do not offer a Maths exam.
If any person also passes a competency test, an exam in the missing subject is organised at the same time.
Qualification score
The qualification score is based on the following two criteria:
Criterion 1. Your final grades in Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics on your high school-leaving examination certificate OR school-leaving certificate
Criterion 2. It depends on the recruitment path you intend to follow. The points calculated are:
Your competency test score,
OR
Your score from BMAT, MCAT, GAMSAT, UCAT certificate*,
OR
If you hold a completed BSc or MSc in Life Sciences that the Admission Board accepts, you will receive points based on your University GPA*.
Based on criteria 1 and 2, we calculate ranking points.
*Pursuant to the Act of April 4, 2025, on amending certain acts to eliminate irregularities in the visa system of the Republic of Poland (Journal of Laws of 2025, item 622), the rules of admission to long-cycle degree programmes have been amended.
Most candidates are not eligible for exemption from the competency test.
Exemption from the competency test may be granted only to international candidates in accordance with the guidelines of the Act.

The Admission Board will offer places only to the top candidates from the ranking list.
How do we convert qualification points based on secondary school-leaving certificates, diplomas, and other documents obtained abroad?

Document confirming the fluency in English**
Candidates qualified for admission to studies must submit a certificate from the examination verifying their English proficiency at a level enabling them to pursue their studies.
Citizenship of a country where English is the official language cannot be the basis for recognition of knowledge of English at a level enabling the pursuit of studies.
A document confirming fluency in English is required as part of the final Admission File:
– IB Diploma (International Baccalaureate issued by the International Education Foundation based in Geneva, Switzerland)
– EB Diploma (Issued in Brussels)
– diploma of completion of first- or second-cycle studies or long-cycle master's studies conducted abroad with English as the language of instruction
– Language certificate proving the required level of English language
– another document confirming knowledge of English as specified in the implementing regulation issued on the basis of Article 70 paragraph 5f of the Act of July 20, 2018, Law on Higher Education and Science (i.e., Journal of Laws of 2024, item 1571)
Language certificates recognised by the Medical University of Warsaw:
– IELTS Academic – Overall Band Score at least 6.5 points
– TOEFL iBT – at least 87 points
– FCE with a score of at least 173 points
– International ESOL B2 Communicator: both parts: Written (Listening, Reading, Writing) and Spoken (Speaking) exams
– TOEIC – at least 785 points (Listening & Reading) + at least 150 points (Speaking) + at least 160 points (Writing)
– Certificate in Advanced English (CAE)
– Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE)
– equivalent certificate in accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of Science and Higher Education and verified by the Admission Board

Note: In accordance with the above legal acts, the Medical University of Warsaw has established the required levels for language certificates confirming the fluency in English. If you hold an English language certificate other than those listed above, get confirmation from the Admission Board.
